Call for Interns: Indigenous Resilience Center (IRes) 
University of Arizona 

 

The Indigenous Resilience Center (IRes) is seeking motivated and community-minded student interns to support our work advancing Indigenous resilience, foster relationship-building, and community engagement across Arizona and beyond. 

 

This internship is ideal for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in Indigenous community engagement, program coordination, and project support while working closely with a center committed to the values of Relationship, Respect, Responsibility, and Reciprocity within the nexus of Food, Energy and Water Systems (FEWS). 

 

Intern Responsibilities May Include: 

  • Supporting project-based initiatives and special assignments across IRes programs  

  • Assisting with event planning, logistics, and coordination for workshops, forums, and community gatherings  

  • Supporting tribal engagement efforts, including outreach, communications, and relationship-building activities  

  • Providing general clerical and office support, including scheduling, filing, data entry, and material preparation  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • University of Arizona Student

  • Strong interest in working with Tribal Nations and Indigenous communities  

  • Desire to learn about and deepen understanding of tribal sovereignty and governance to address community priorities  

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail  

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively  

  • Flexibility with scheduling and changing project needs  

  • Professional communication skills and willingness to learn  

 

Internship Details: 

  • Time Commitment: 10–15 hours per week  

  • Duration: Preference for students available for one full academic year  

  • Compensation: Students who successfully complete their semester internship are eligible for a $1,000 stipend  

  • Academic Credit: IRes is willing to work with students seeking to fulfill internship or practicum credit requirements through their academic program  

 

This opportunity is well-suited for students pursuing studies or careers in public health, American Indian studies, environmental science, public policy, education, communications, or related fields.
