Indigenous Correspondents Program at the Planet Forward Summit 2026

The Planet Forward Summit, held April 15–17, 2026, at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., brought together students, journalists, scientists, and storytellers from across the country to explore how storytelling can advance environmental solutions and strengthen community voices. Throughout the multi-day event, participants engaged in panels, workshops, and student showcases focused on multimedia storytelling, climate communication, and the power of narrative to inspire action.

As part of the Indigenous Correspondents Program (ICP), a partnership between Planet Forward and the University of Arizona, students traveled to the Summit to share their work, network, and further develop their storytelling skills. The program concludes with this experience each year, providing Indigenous students the opportunity to present their stories and engage with professionals in environmental communication.

A highlight of this year’s Summit was the recognition of Tommey Jodie from the University of Arizona, who was awarded Best Multimedia Story at the Planet Forward Summit as part of the Indigenous Correspondents Program.
