A Holistic Approach to Research: Relationality in Science and Engineering is an interactive workshop presented by the Nihí Lab within the UA Department of Chemical and Environmental Engineering. This session invites students and researchers to explore how research can be approached through a lens of relationality, connecting disciplines such as bioremediation, geochemistry, and Indigenous data sovereignty.

Participants will learn how research extends beyond strict objectivity and novelty to include relationships between the intangible and tangible, and across micro- to macroscale systems. Through guided discussion and hands-on activities, attendees will be introduced to the Nihí Lab’s holistic research framework and encouraged to reflect on and map their own research interests.

The session will take place on April 28, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in HNRS 1068 and will include opportunities to meet the speakers, learn about the research framework, create a collage to visualize research connections, and engage in peer discussion.
