National Tribal and Indigenous Climate Conference in Anchorage, AK

On Sept 9-14, IRes along with 6 tribal community partners went to the National Tribal and Indigenous Climate Conference in Anchorage, AK. This event sponsored by NAU Intertribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) was attended by 600 attendees with about 200 virtual attendees. The 6 tribal partners are part of the IRes Climate Hub and received $50,000 to do climate resilience work in their communities. This project is funded by the Waverley Street Foundation. IRes held a 4 hour session entitled “Empowering Tribes through Environmental Justice: Leveraging Inflation Reduction Act Funding and EPA Technical Assistance Centers for Sustainable Solutions.” IRes and WEST EJ presented technical resources and EPA presented on national and regional TCTAC centers. Each community partner presented on their project and were connected to TA resources. There were also an additional 30 people in the room and 30 people on zoom. IRes hosted a WEST EJ table to connect tribal attendees to TA resources.
