Dr. Jani C. Ingram (Diné) is a Regents’ Professor of Chemistry at Northern Arizona University and a leading researcher on environmental contaminants affecting Indigenous communities. Born to the Náneesht’ ézhi clan, she has built long-standing partnerships with Navajo community leaders to investigate uranium and arsenic exposure in water, soil, livestock, and traditional foods.

Her research spans analytical chemistry, environmental health, and community-engaged science. Dr. Ingram has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and leads major federally funded projects, including the Native American Cancer Prevention Program and the Bridging Arizona Native American Students to Bachelor Degrees initiative.

She previously served as an Advisory Scientist at Idaho National Laboratory before joining NAU in 2002, where she has mentored over 100 students, more than half of whom are Native American. Dr. Ingram holds degrees from Yavapai College, New Mexico State University, and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.
