B. Nieves I. Vázquez is a graduate student in the M.S. Water, Society, & Policy program at the School of Natural Resources and the Environment at UArizona. They joined the Indigenous Resilience Center in October 2023 as a Graduate Research Assistant, and is currently working on community water data analysis.

Nieves was born and raised in Houston and comes from Huachichil Chichimecatl and Mexican people of the Sierra Madre Oriental, specifically the Río Ramos of the Río San Juan basin. They received a B.A. in Psychology and Ethnic Studies, and a certificate in Conflict Resolution & Peace Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. Nieves’ previous work as an intern with the National Park Service throughout the Intermountain Region focused on facilitating difficult dialogues with federal land-based agencies on the inclusion and sovereignty of Indigenous people and under-represented groups in the outdoors and environmental field.
