Dr. Andrew Curley--- De-Colonizing the Colorado River: Can We Re-Think Our Relationship with Water?

When

3 – 4:30 p.m., Feb. 3, 2023

Title of the talk: De-Colonizing the Colorado River: Can We Re-Think Our Relationship with Water?

Abstract: The Colorado River is in crisis. Declining water levels in reservoirs and a perceived megadrought have provoked political crisis between communities in the Colorado Basin. But little attention is given to the ways infrastructure along the river have displaced Indigenous water access and further colonized Indigenous lands. This presentation highlights Curley’s recent research into the colonial foundations of Arizona’s water governance.

As usual, we will meet at 3:00 pm at ENR2 S107 for snacks and start the talk at 3:30 pm
