Tsosie Recognized for Her Lasting Impact on Indian Country and Legal Education

IRes wanted to shoutout and congratulate Professor Rebecca Tsosie on being the 2026 recipient of the Lawrence R. Baca Lifetime Achievement Award for Excellence in Federal Indian Law. Professor Tsosie assists on the Waverly Policy Initiative housed under the Waverly Street Grant Project. Professor Tsosie’s award is well deserved especially because many of the Native law students she has taught have gone on to become legal warriors in federal Indian law once they become attorneys, showcasing her exemplary teaching. Further, she was able to create space and community for the rez kids in her classroom to not only feel safe, but centered their cultural ways of knowing we know to be true without making them feel less than. Again, congratulations Professor Tsosie!
